Q1– I downloaded the driver from Mustek website but got a message saying it could not be opened because it was from an unidentified developer.

Answer: You need to modify the Mac settings.
Try to modify the “Allow apps download from:” settings to ‘Anywhere,’ then re-download again.

Q2– I could not download the scanner driver or software from the website for MAC systems.

Answer: Please go to “System Preferences” and modify the “Security & Privacy” setting.

Q3– I can’t open the driver file (*.pkg) after downloading the scanner driver on MAC 10.10 ~ MAC 10.12.

Answer: Please go to “System Preferences” and modify the “Security & Privacy” setting.

Q4– I can’t open the Image Acquire file (*.pkg) after downloading the Image Acquire software on MAC 10.10~MAC 10.12

Q5– If my scanner could not be recognized on Mac, how can I confirm the scanner PID of the customer is right or not.

Answer:

Q6– When scanning color, everything has a heavy PINK tone to it. 

Answer: 

Please run “Clean Calibration”.


Q7– I want to adjust the scanning image color

Answer: Please go to  TWAIN tool “Enhance -Level”.

  1. Open TWAIN, then disable the “Color Match” function on TWAIN.Color Match function on TWAIN
  2. Click the “Enhance Level” tool.

  3. Choose “Green.” Then modify the input value from 255 to 230.

  4. Choose “Red.” Then modify the input value from 0 to 40. (Or more).
  5. Finish the adjustments and Scan the image.
    You can adjust the Level-input value according as you wish.If you want to clear the scanning background color (such as when scanning a newspaper or book), you can still adjust the “Enhance Level”.
    The output value of Red/Green/Blue can separate adjustments from 255 to 210 (or less).

Q8– I have misplaced the calibration image and need to recalibrate because the colors are off. Is there any way I can purchase a replacement calibration image?

Answer: The calibration paper for the A3 scanner is attached to the scanner with double-sided adhesive.If there is an issue with scanning image color, please run “Clean Calibration” tool. The next scan will automatically re-calibrate.This is the case for the A3 scanner/A4 scanner series.


Q9– I have an A3 Mustek scanner 1200S scanner that stopped working. Is there anywhere I can get it fixed? It locked up, and continuously cycles, but doesn’t scan anything. (I don’t think the camera moves, either.)

Answer: Please do try to loosen the two screws of scanner and scan again. Then check if the CIS carriage is moving or not. This method could determine whether the screws are too tight or if the cover of the scanner is deformed.

Q10 – “I downloaded the driver for the a3 flatbed scanner onto my new MacBook Pro, but I can’t find the image acquire software in my applications. Everything went smoothly in the installation, and I double checked that I downloaded the right driver. I’m not sure what else to do.”

Answer:“Mac Driver” is only for Twain Driver and it does not contain software (ImageAcquire).
Image Acquire software requires additional installation on MAC.

Q12– How can I check if the scanner is recognized on my MAC?

Answer: 

(1) Open the ImageAcquire software.
(2) The import command will show “Mustek a3 scanner 1200S.” Click “Acquire” to display TWAIN UI. When it is displayed, that means the scanner is recognized by your MAC.
*** Make sure the scanner PID can match the scanner driver first.

Q13– I downloaded and executed the Mac driver .pkg file and the following message appeared.

Answer: Please go to the “Security & Privacy” and click “Open Anyway.” The scanner driver will open and install without a problem.

Q14– After installing the Mac driver, how can I check the scanner driver installation path on my MAC.

Answer:

Q15– Every time I try to scan at different resolutions,  I get the scan output at 96 dpi!

Answer: The scan output resolution depends on the software used by the customer.
It is not a driver issue.

For example:
Microsoft WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) UI :
Start >> Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Devices and Printers >>
“Scanner device” >> right click on “Start Scan” that can use Microsoft
WIA UI to scan.  
If you are using the Microsoft WIA UI to scan, its output resolution is 96dpi, but its
width/height pixels is correct.
If you are using Photoshop or the Mustek bundle PageManager, its output resolution is
correct.

Q16 – What is the difference between A3 1200S and A3 2400S.
What are the major differences between the S series and the N series?

A3 1200S
  • Basic functions are the same
  • The only difference is the resolution

A3 1200S 1200dpi (common resolution in the A3 scanner market)

A3 2400S 2400dpi (only this scanner can reach 2400dpi worldwide)

Q17– Can the 2400s scan at 2400s across the board? Is there anything I need to be aware of? Also, does Mustek offer A3 scanners that have printing capabilities?

Answer: 

No scanner can scan all pages at 2400dpi due to the computer’s algorithm limitations. You must select a specific range. Even if you just scan a 6cm x 6cm image at 2400dpi, the file size will be extremely large at over 100mb and reach to the computer system limitations.

No, Mustek does not offer A3 scanners with printing capabilities.


Q18– I wanted to ask about the dpi. The only options are 100, 200, 300, 600, and 1200.  There isn’t an option for 2400.  Any suggestions? 

Answer: For high-resolution scan mode, you need to operate your scanner via TWAIN interface’s software.

Q21– Do Mustek A3 scanners (A3 1200S, A3 2400S & A3F 2400N) compatible with Photoshop element?

Answer: Please note that all Photoshop versions are compatible with Mustek A3/A4 scanners except Photoshop CC 2017.
You need to install TWAIN plug-in first then import TWAIN UI to scan.
